Wood Art Dupe

As a child, I wondered why the shoes at the mall that were obviously copies of high end designer weren’t exactly the same. How hard could it be?, I thought. Copyright issues aside, as this project demonstrates, the final product is the result of many tiny decisions that will inevitably result in something unique. The fact we can produce exact copies of objects nowadays is perhaps the biggest accomplishment of the Industrial Revolution. All that to say my project looks nothing like the original. But maybe you’ll get closer!

This is the inspiration for the project. I’m not going to get into complicated instructions for this project, I hot glued sticks together. That’s it. You can buy a bundle of sticks on Amazon, which I bought for another project and never used.

My finished piece is on the right. I could keep going and perhaps get it closer to the original, but I don’t want to buy another bundle of sticks. In any case, hot glue always takes me back to my childhood and so I find it relaxing. Happy crafting!
