I love the intense pop of red from these wreaths-in a house of grey and white they give some much needed color. I decided I wanted one of my own, such as this one from Pottery Barn https://www.potterybarn.com/products/red-berry-home-decor/?cm_src=SocialShareLink&sku=7526314. However, you can get a 17″ diameter wreath for $59, so is it worth making your own? Let’s see.
- Cardboard wreath ring 18″ diameter-$10.98
- Red berry garlands and picks-$38.38
- floral wire- $2.99
- wire cutters/scissors
The nice thing about using a cardboard wreath is there are holes to weave the wire through, and it will always lay flat. Place your picks with the berries sweeping the same way, and tie down with floral wire using the holes. I like to twist the wires together then push flat. I used one berry garland, and then used the picks to fill in any holes in the wreath. This was the result.

I’m happy with the way it turned out, but it definitely doesn’t look as full as the Pottery Barn wreath I’m basing it on. I could of course add more picks, but then we’d be almost the same cost as just buying it. In this case, it could be worth just buying it outright, especially if you are looking at the smaller sizes. If I could redo, I’d just use the picks, as they were a dollar a piece at Michaels, instead of buying 2 garlands. In that way, I think it would be a lot cheaper, especially if you were going to go bigger. Either way, I love it and I think I’m going to leave it there hanging on my guest bedroom door.
