I love rice Krispies treats, so easy to make, endless flavor add-ins, and tasty to boot. Marshmallow treat “brains”, “raw meat”, and pumpkins have been floating around for a couple of Halloweens now, so I wanted to make something new. I love Bob from Beetlejuice, and with the new movie there is sure to be renewed interest in the series this Halloween. So make your own Bobs and enjoy!
- 6 cups Rice krispies
- 1 bag of marshmallows
- 3 Tbs of butter
- red and blue food coloring
- candy eyes
- black icing
- circular tip and bag (if needed)
- parchment paper
Melt the butter and marshmallows in a large saucepan. One liquified, add 4 drops of blue and 2 drop of red food coloring. I didn’t add as much food coloring and my Bobs weren’t super blue once the cereal was added, so don’t make the same mistake I did. Add on the cereal, mix to combine thoroughly. Let the mixture cool for about 10 minutes. Set out your parchment paper on the counter.
Cover your hands in cooking spray or butter, and mold the mixture into oval shapes. Bob has a kind of pointy small forehead, and a ridge where his mouth is. Poke two eyeholes in the upper portion of the face, and place your candy eyes. Using a chopstick, create a little crater where the nose is supposed to be. Once your treats have cooled a little, then you can move onto the icing part.
Making a long horizontal line on top of the ridge, and then several small vertical lines to mimic is sewn shut mouth. For the hair, using circular motion to cover the top of the treat, and then make his little ponytail. I thought about using black licorice, and I still think that would look pretty cool, but I don’t eat that kind of candy so it would be a waste. Admire your Bob and enjoy!
