Ghost Wreath Dupe

I saw this wreath on an ad on Facebook from Pottery Barn and thought it was cute, as well as super easy to duplicate. I already had the wreath, the white material, the felt for the eyes, and all I needed was some spray paint and a Styrofoam ball. The end result was very close to the advertised product, but I decided my wreath needed some ribbon, although you could certainly buy the fairy lights as in the original.

Materials:

Black grapevine wreath (I spraypainted mine, but you can certainly find black online)

White fabric

Black felt

Styrofoam ball (I used 3.8 inch)

Scissors, pins, glue gun, thin wire ornament hook

Optional: Ribbon, LED fairy lights

  1. Lay out white fabric and cut a 13 inch square. I folded my fabric 3 times since it was sheer, although you can skip this step if your fabric is opaque.
  2. Place Styrofoam ball under circle, and pin in place.
  3. Glue the fabric in place, leaving a space at the very top for the hook, you don’t want to have to push through hard glue! Take out pin.
  4. Insert ornament hook at an angle into Styrofoam ball. I used a seam ripper to poke a hole through the fabric. Glue the insertion point to ensure it stays in place.
  5. Find a promising twig and hang your ghost. I wrapped the wire around twice.
  6. Decorate with ribbons or lights. If you need a tutorial on making your own ribbon bows https://kippiathome.com/how-to-make-a-bow-the-easy-way/ I found this to be very clear.
  7. Hang and enjoy! Overall I spent about $10 on this wreath, way less than retail. Also I’d had that white fabric in my stash for over 5 years, bought it to make my niece doll clothes. She’s in junior high now.
