These pillows are all over my feeds, and with some fabric leftover from my Gus the Ghost dupe, I decided to make my own. Prices of pillows vary wildly so this might not be a huge money saver, but I do like you can customize the pillows with cute details. I didn’t do it to mine (I have a cat) but cute button eyes, or ribbon bowties would could be added for more personality.
Materials
- Black lumbar pillow cover ($7 Amazon)
- Lumbar pillow form ($5 Joanns)
- White sherpa fabric
- Sewing glue
- Black thread, scissors
- Printer

1. Print out and cut out ghost patterns. I went ahead and used the printer paper as patterns but you can transfer to sturdier cardboard if needed.
2. Pin patterns to sherpa fabric and cut out ghost shapes. After cutting as close as I could, I took off the pattern and rounded their hands and tails so the pieces looked as clean as possible.
3. Place the patterns as you wish on the lumbar pillow cover. After you are satisfied, pin in place. If you are using sewing glue, place a piece of cardboard or paper inside the cover to catch any excess glue, or you’ll end up gluing the sides together. (Ask me how I know.) Glue on your ghosts.
4. This step isn’t necessary, but I made a few stitches in the delicate areas- the tails, hands, and the tops to ensure they wouldn’t fall off over time.
5. Allow glue to dry and then place in your pillow form. Done! I did this in a couple of hours one afternoon, and while I thought about adding some decoration, I figured someone (cough my cat) would actually use it as a pillow so I left it plain.
